नवीन छंद .. मासे पक़डणे !!

इथं ऍटलांटा मधे आता मी मासे पकडायला लागलो आहे. म्हणजे ... मासे पकडायला गेलो तर मला 4 पैकी 2 वेळेला तरी मासे मिळतात. छान पैकी ताजे मासे खायला मजा येते. इथं ट्राऊट मासे नदी मधे मिळतात... मासे पकडण्या साठी बरीच छंदीस्त मंडळी इथं नदी वर येतात ... आणि त्या लोकाना मासे पक़डण्या करता सरकार मस्य उद्योगात माश्याची पैदास करून नदी मधे सोडते. सरकार या सेवे करता मासे पक़डण्याचा परवाना विकते. (म्हणजे मासे नदीत आहेत याची काळज़ी सरकार घेते)

असो... तर इथे मासे पक़डण्याचे दोन प्रकार प्रचलीत आहेत

1. बेट फिशींग (bait fishing)
या प्रकारात गळाला जिवंत आळी / किडेलावून अथवा इतर खाद्य / क्रुत्रिम खाद्य लावून मासे आकर्षीत केले जातात,
आणि या प्रकारात गळाला लावलेल्या आकर्षणाला वजन असते. या वजना मुळे मासे पकडण्यांचा गळ पाण्यात दुर वर फेक़ूशकतो... मी जास्त भौतिकात जात नाही ते नंतर कधी तरी लिहिन.

2. फ्लाय फिशींग (fly fishing)
या प्रकारात गळाला पिसे/दोरे बांधून क्रुत्रिम किडे बनवतात आणि ते मासे पक़डायला वापरतात. या किड्यांना काही वजननसते. हा मासे मारण्याचा प्रकार त्याच्या मागच्या भौतिक विज्ञाना मुळे अवघड आहे. गळाला वजन नसल्या मुळे ...
मासे पक़डण्याची दोरी फेकावा लागते.... दोरी दुरवर फेकणे जरा अवघड असते. त्याकरता वेग़ळी दोरी मिळते.

मी आधी "बेट फिशींग" या प्रकारानी सुरवात केली नंतर आताशा फ्लाय फिशींगचं करतो. त्यात एक वेग़ळीच मज़ा/नशा आहे.

हे माझे छायाचित्र बेट फिशिंग करतानाचे आहे ... फ्लाय फिशींगचे छायाचित्र आजून काढले नाहीये.

इथं अमेरीकेत येऊन आत्ता एक वर्ष होत आले !! काळ कसा निघून जातो ते समजत सुध्दा नाही. ध्रुव इथं आला तेव्हा त्याला ईंग्रजी येत नव्हते ... आता त्याला मराठी शब्द आठवून वापरावे लागतात, त्यावरून येणार्‍या वर्षाची / वर्षांची समस्या ... किवां ... मराठी शिकवण्याची गरज़ आत्ताच समोर येऊ लागली आहे.

आज ... एक गोष्ट सांगताना "चिखल" या मराठी शब्दाचा अर्थ विचारल्या वर तो म्हणाला ... " soldiers घालतात ते " ... आणी अर्थ सांगितल्यावर ध्रुव म्हणाला ... "Oh! puddle ..." मला काय बोलावे कळेना. आपण लहान होतो तर मला आठवते आहे ... आपल्याला एखाद्या ईंग्रजी शब्दाचा अर्थ समजल्यावर असा आनंद व्हायचा ... मला कधी आयुष्यात वाटले नव्हतेकी आपल्याला असा अनूभव येईल.

मी 1974 ते 1981, म्हणजे ... जन्मापासून तिसरी पर्यंत सोमवार पेठ, पुणे या पत्त्यावर गेली. मला जेवढे आठवते त्यामधे त्रिशुंड्या गणपती आणी आजुबाजूच्या गल्ल्या हे आमचे क्षेत्रं !!! खेळ ... फर्शीपाणी, चोर पोलीस, विटी दांडू , डब्बा ईपाइस... इत्यादी. क्रिकेट सोमवार पेठेत आठवत नाही ... नंतर विठ्ठलवाडीला आठवते पण सोमवार पेठेत आठवत नाही.

आज ... हे खेळ पुण्यात खेळत असतील का ? माहीत नाही !!!

नवीन भाड्याच्या घरात काल रहायला आलो आहोत. इथं खूप भारतीय दिसतात, दक्षिण भारतीयच जास्त दिसतात. मराठी माणसं मला आजून भेटली नाहीत. 1-2 कुटूंबच भेटली आत्ता पर्यंत. असो.

उद्या पासून कार्यालय पुन्हा सुरू !! आजची सुट्टी संपली :(

साप !! साप !!!

आज कार्यालयातुन येताना, आमच्या घरा जवळ रस्त्यावर मला एक साप दिसला, छोटा साच होता. चोकलेटी रंगाचा.

पटकन घरी येऊन कॅमेरा घेऊन चार - पाच फोटो काढले !!! मी आज पहिला अमेरिकन सापाचा फोटो काढला. आणि आत्ता पर्यंत दोन अमेरिकन साप मी पाहिले आहेत (रस्त्यावर). पहीला नियागरा फॉल्स पाशी गेल्या वर्षी आणि आज आटलांटा मधे.

इथ फोटो लावत आहे. हा साप बिनविषारी असुन साधारण 1 फूटा पर्यंत वाढतो. याच खाद्य .. बेडूक, सरडे वगैरे छोटे प्राणी.
इथ नेहमी अढळणारा हा एक छोटा साप.

Time to head back to Atlanta !! We are flying on Delta flight to Atlanta at 5:30 EST. Priya has done all the work to pack all the stuff and keep it under 50 lbs, god I hate it and I am going to avoid travelling with family for all of 2007... I hope to manage that, traveling alone.

I hope Priya would be comfortable driving on her own in no time and then she would not be dependent on me for going around Atlanta.

We stayed in Residence Inn, Marriott at 107 Andersen Rd, Cheektowaga, NY 14225. Its a good hotel they have a nice indoor pool with a spa and every thing is close by. There is a huge mall Walden Galleria just round the corner.

What I like about buffalo....

Very nice people ... they did bear me for a month now !!

Traffic .. there is none.

Architecure .. I wanted to take pictures of the City Hall its a very nice building but the weather god was not in favour it the sky has been just gray for most of the stay and when sun finally came out I ran out of time.

FM 94.5 Classical Music Radio.... I used to tune in to this all the time its nice to listen to the western classical music.

Things that I did not like .....
Weather .. its just cold and unpredictable.

Things that I wanted to do ....

Walk on main street with my camera and take pictures.

Corning Museum of Glass

We went to the Corning Museum of Glass on April 22, 2007. Their website : http://www.cmog.org/ Its a nice place to visit ... if you do not have 3 year old kid !!!

The glass work is awesome, however our son Dhruv was not happy at all. He wanted to touch and hold every thing, it was tough to keep him away from the glass !!!

We started from Buffalo at 10.00 am, and reached at arround 1.00 pm we stopped three times I guess .. anyways it was fun. I was a beautiful day sun was out and it was warm !!! We have been sun starved for a long time !!

We went to an Indian Restaurant for a lunch buffet "Thali of India" address: 28 East Market Street Corning, NY 14830 I would recommend this to anyone who is going to Corning. The indian food is nice, and it is not expensive I think we had our lunch under $20.

The museum is very nice and it is photographers paradise !!! I would recommend a monopod. I missed out on this one as I was busy looking after.. Dhruv

Gulls at Niagara Falls, NY

We went to Niagara falls, on April 15, 2007. It was freezing ... in April !!! I saw a flock of gulls fishing on the rapids of river Niagara.

I had my Rebel XT and EF 70~200 4L lense. Sun was behind the clouds not ideal situation ... I started taking pictures.

It was fun watching them .. I hope you enjoy them :)
